New Features

Trial students can be added with just a first name. Last name and email are now optional when creating a trial student. A placeholder email is generated internally so the record works with the account system, but no notifications are ever sent to it. A banner explains that a real email is needed before the student can be promoted to active/inactive or get portal access. Placeholder emails are automatically excluded from CSV exports, email blasts, and vCard exports.
Bulk-add students via editable spreadsheet grid (replaces CSV upload). Starts with 5 blank rows, supports up to 200, allows pasting directly from Excel/Google Sheets, flags invalid rows inline before submission, and offers a CSV download of the table. Blank rows are ignored automatically. Includes the ability to assign the whole batch to an existing group, and to create/edit/delete groups without leaving the flow.
Group assignment on single student creation. The standard "Add Student" screen now includes an optional group selector and a "Manage Groups" button (create/edit/delete) inline.

Restoring a soft-deleted student now correctly returns them to their prior status (trial/active/inactive) rather than being re-routed through active/inactive recalculation.
Promoting a trial student without a real email now shows a friendly inline error with an immediate fix option, instead of failing silently.
Lesson reminder emails now silently skip students without a real email instead of logging errors.
Expired time-limited media links (photos, video, audio, PDFs) are now automatically refreshed in the background with a loading spinner, instead of showing broken media. Same fix applied to inserting resource links into rich-text content. Clear error shown if refresh fails.
Resource search is now more forgiving of spacing/punctuation differences (e.g., "A Minor Scale" vs "A-Minor-Scale" vs "aminorscale" all match).
Self-registration now defaults to the student's browser-detected timezone instead of the studio's timezone.
Loading overlay restyled with updated card shadow/corner treatment and brand-blue spinner (cosmetic only).
Removed unwanted mid-word hyphenation in the flashcard Random Picker tool.

Fixed contradictory document statuses where a document could appear as both "signed" (document list) and "needs signature" (Action Required box) simultaneously. Signing now immediately clears the item from Action Required without a refresh.
Fixed metronome double-ticking on subdivided beats.
Fixed metronome main click playing at incorrect (slowed) pitch/speed.
Fixed metronome restarting/interrupting when clicking into and back out of the BPM field without changing the value.
Fixed several 500 errors caused by missing fields during student creation; these now return clean error messages.
Fixed crashes/blank screens across rosters, balances, scheduler, resource sharing, and activity/practice stats when a student has no last name on file (side effect of optional last names for trial students).
Fixed rare duplicate checklist blocks appearing in Practice Entries during certain edit/copy-paste scenarios.
